SONORA WRITERS GROUP

Bringing the treasure of literature to the mother lode

Sonora Writers Group was founded in 2003 by sisters Marylin Martin and Jill Klajic Ryan, the current President. They felt it was important for local writers to encourage, support and educate one another. The members share their experiences travelling through the adventures of creativity.

In 2010 the group decided to publish their first anthology. The title "Second Saturday" was chosen as they meet the second Saturday of every month. Many of the current members had the opportunity to have their stories and poetry grace the 176 pages of the book.

Their dream to establish The Tuolumne Writers Retreat was realized in 2012 and was a resounding success. The plans are to continue this event every year on the last weekend of September.

The members are proud to be a part of the Literary Movement and promote the talent of Tuolumne County.
